On Ice

Fool that I am,
to take to the fields.
Trotting ponies
and rushing streams.

Follow my heart onto
sullied paths, muddied
with slips, slides
and jeopardies.

I’m antsy for warmth,
long sunny days, but
fool that I am, dressed
by cloudless skies.

Fickle January,
and its perfect ice.

  1. Hot stuff for such a cold subject Misky. Well done. I’m going nowhere in the sleet we’re having this morning. Have a Sun day!

  3. My favourite bit is the last four lines. I love dressed by a cloudless sky. Your walk sounds fabulous to me. But I am only an Aussie and don’t know real cold.

  4. “Follow my heart… slips, slides and jeopardies.” Lot of meaning there. One has but to look.
