A BOOK CALLED TASTES LIKE WAR
…assuming war is tartar sauce
Signed up and off he went
to some place, who knows.
I was in high school,
always bought myself fries
with tartar sauce
for the walk home.
Can’t eat tartar sauce
without thinking of him.

they served us rtartar with our fish and chips in Holland. Amazing fish, not battered, some kind of herby cruse but unlike anything you get in the UK. I still remember kibbeling (cod).

Lekkerbekjes are my favourites. That same sort of batter (made with sparkling water), and served with tartar sauce in a bun. Yum!
