Day 29: NaPoWriMo 2021

Miz Quickly’s Day 29 Winding Prompt

The Ballerina Music Box

A little brass key
turned and turned,

and in return,
a ballerina spun

to semitones of
sharps and flats,

of a tune scaling
a lament or elegy,

and she danced
on pinpoint toes,

an echoless, dying
dance as the song

unwound.

  1. My ballerina was not as elegant as the image you show. She was plastic with painted dress and a tiny crinkly white tutu. 🙂

  2. Beautiful! I once bought my mom a music box that played Lara’s Song from Dr. Zhivago.
