                I hear 
red-rust hedgerows,  
sooty leaves, 
and daylight that  

only exists  
for the sun to snag 
and spin to gold.

How long have I been
adrift in autumn’s 
wordless vapours?

that I mistook for curves 
of wind?
Was it you 
who turned the moon silver white?
Were you those
overtones of stars and moon?
Did you watch 
as those old memories 
made me cry?
