I Saw My Reflection
In the snow of a whitewashed mirror,
into meadows where the sun keeps
its winter eye. In empty spaces, I saw
all my wishes strung out like knotted
syllables. Stars. Favourite colours were
my reflection. I saw an avalanche of
secrets, those sweet and sour smells.
I’m the taste of moonlight, saltwater,
of berries bursting blind at night.
And I saw my reflection in the snow
covered hills, and I knew how to breathe.
Miz Quickly’s Day 4: Take a phrase from a favourite song, and make it the title of your poem. I chose Fleetwood Mac – “Landslide” “And I saw my reflection in the snow-covered hills/ Till the landslide brought me down” by Stevie Nicks

One of my fave earworm tunes. And it triggered a really fine Miskyverse. Well done, M.

I loved the images you conjured here. And, I have this song scheduled to post on Songshine next week – not Stevie Nicks, though.

Frequently played on my ‘Oldies’ station. Though they are getting too much of the 80’s and even some 90’s in the mix. Nicely done.
