Dawn’s Ocean
That view, bright
as thick-skinned lemons
and sharp as winter.
The sun soon rising into
afternoon heat, and
dawn’s ocean opens
to its faint horizon,
as if proof were needed
that night is made
for the burning of stars.

It’s only right that our nearest star should give way to a night sky filled with its siblings.
