for Twiglet #239

Corners of Thirst

Thirst is a sand-drift,
but when quenched,
it’s as satisfied as a housewife
who’s spent her days at home
with a bowl of salted crisps
and a glass of dry sherry.

  1. I could think of nothing worse than drinking sherry.

    1. 😁 Twiglet prompts are meant to generate random thoughts (that are often forgotten) which might go on to produce something else.

    1. I immediately thought of dry sherry when I saw that photo. Little black dress, string of pearls, and a glass of sherry. 😆

  3. I remember when that particular vacuum was all the rage…
And also when it was expected that housewives (who didn’t have maids) – actually cleaned house in their pearls and dresses… And I’m guessing more than a few had their stashes of munchies and drinks.

    1. What a ridiculous idea. I’m sure glad that my mother didn’t fall into that prototype.

      1. “Leave it to Beaver” the TV show (1950’s and early 1060’s) always had the Mom in a dress and pearls… Of course she had an apron while cooking. But never a hair out of place. Though I don’t think she’d have a stash of chips or drink during the day.
