Miz Quickly’s 12 Wicked Words

A Road: A Collection of Disjointed Thoughts

It’s the dalliance of her undress. Her
silky hip. The filthy silence that follows.

And since you asked, my advice is
all roads windup with endurance.

I’ve traveled dry heat. Stony mirages.
A staff in hand. I drew green on dunes,

      for a change of scenery.
      A useless dalliance, perhaps.
      Like fishing a dry creek.

So draw a tree if you need shade,
but don’t walk your old buried roads.

  1. I like the last three best. Especially “I drew green on dunes.” Hang on to that idea. And that end couplet!

    1. Thanks, b. I’ll tweak it when I’m not throttled by your 12 wicked words. By the way, your artwork on this prompt is simply stunning.

  2. I agree. That end couplet is wicked!

    1. Thanks! Sometimes a dozen random words like these can produce lines to recycle later in other pieces, or for revising later. I’ll pick this piece apart on a rainy day and have a play with it.

  3. Those old buried roads… never lead to greener pastures. More like to musty dark caves.
