That Girl in the Red Hooded Cape

This fantasy is more
than a child’s landscape.
It’s a snap of a tripwire
behind masks.
Hidden. Fear
in tunes and dance.
A disguise that grabs
the shorthairs. Teeth
gleaming like moonlight.
That sort of feeling,
it sets birds off flying
because, truly, life’s scarier
than your forest, child.
