It All Comes Down to Decaf in the End
Are you listening?
What did you say?
May I talk with you?
What do you want to talk about?
And why now?
Who are you?
Simple, isn’t it?
Where would you start?
The beginning, or today?
Are you like fireworks?
Are you bright?
Are you breath, or breathing?
Are you whole, or in bits?
When you sing, are you an orchestra?
We’re talking ….. just us, right?
What? What about old people?
Do you think one day you won’t be me,
drinking decaf?
II.
Hello Goodbye 1967
It’s just a moment,
a glimmer it seems,
redeemed by time.
Corners curled,
sepia tinted,
if not squinted, a blur
but nevertheless a smile.
It was Thursday: 1967.
Newly released, playing
Hello Goodbye
and asking what Walrus
are they talking about?
In truth, I still don’t know.
