I Got Dragged Away With
those wild horses in me,
didn’t know they’d drag me away.
made a quiet exit with a sleight of hand.
one day they’ll pull me back, you said,
like a snapped rubber band.
slide away, melt away with those
candles in the window,
burning for anyone who’s left home.
but we’re sliding apart all the same,
never saw it in you, your twisted ties,
never saw the dull ache coming that
I don’t feel so much anymore.
Those wild horses left me many years ago

Great song choice. Great poem to go with the song. So cool. Thanks for sharing. Lovely. Keep going. I wish you miracles. xo, Selma.

I haven’t listened to the Stones in a while, Marilyn, or felt the pull of wild horses. I’m more like those melting candles these days, or even a ‘snapped rubber band’!😊

One of my favourite Stones tracks, and a lovely poem to complement it.

I love that song and you weave the junk drawer in seamlessly. Well done. Was wondering if you’d heard this recent Mary Chapin Carpenter track that alludes to this gravity of that song? A new favorite of mine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fbr0d4iQMa8&ab_channel=MaryChapinCarpenter
