I.
For dVerse Poets: The Insomniac
This girl wants a slow dying light,
a shallow moment within herself.
She extinguishes brightness,
a joyous dark rise from the scent
of deep sleep. A fall into slowness.
To wake from dreams is to be reborn.
Candles snuff out their light to
the high rising morning sun, and
you’ll hear her cry of defeat as she
wishes us all a good night.
II.
For AprilPAD “The Villain”: Insomnia
This girl wants a slow dying light,
a shallow moment within herself.
She extinguishes brightness,
a joyous dark rise from the scent
of deep sleep. A fall into slowness,
to wake from dreams, as if reborn.
III.
For NaPoWriMo A Shadorma: And To All A Goodnight
In herself
A slow dying light
In the night
She coaxes
Into sweet scent of deep sleep
From dreams she’s reborn.

Day 7: This entire day’s work is inspired by a prompt at dVerse Poets. Flipping a poem is the opposite of the original. The source poem is Smothered Fires By Georgia Douglas Johnson at https://bit.ly/q75zg9 . Poem I. is the flipped result. Poem II. is for AprilPAD “Villain” – the same poem whittled down through Joseph Harker’s Refinery method. Poem III. is a Shadorma written for Napowrimo. Poem IV. is for The Poeming’s Found & Remixed text in Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris, Copyright 1989 Yazoo Digital, Arrow; 1st edition (7 May 2009) iBooks, pages 187, 206, 309, 407, 499.
