It's Still Life

Those Shoes

I’ve only worn these pinched-chicken-beak shoes
once.
Once was enough.
They’re carnivores.
Probably eat their meat rare,
bashed, tenderised
and chewed.
Someone said, shoes like that
go where they want.
The left shoe doesn’t give a toss
what the right shoe is doing.
They are fierce.
Fiery.
They are red.
