A Case for Cake (a Pantoum)
It was a party, after all,
a clown, raspberries and noise.
I can still taste the cake.
I can still see the red balloons.
A clown, raspberries and noise,
and we ate on pink paper plates.
I can still see the red balloons.
The clown had flipflop feet.
And we ate on pink paper plates,
cake, chocolate, fudge icing, and
the clown had flipflop feet.
I threw confetti in the air.
Cake, chocolate, fudge icing, and
I can still taste that cake.
I threw confetti in the air –
It was a party, after all.
for Gnomes Day 4: A Pantoum. Extra word: “cake”
It’s National Poetry Write Month, which explains the surge in activity. I’m following three different sites generating daily prompts. Writers’ Digest Poetic Asides, the National Poetry Writing Month website (NaPoWriMo) and my old friend, Walt, over at Gnomes. All of these pieces are drafts.
