dVerse Quadrille #49

A Road and Pork Happiness

We’re at a lay-by
on the old road to Dover.
It’s unexpectedly spring
in January, and we dine
sitting on folding chairs,
eating pork pies and
sipping iced tea.
This is happiness, you say.
Poetry. An oyster’s life.
This is a poem, I say.

  5. I’m on your side…I’d go with poetry over food any day. But sitting in those chair, in nature, that offers poems.

  9. I could almost taste those pork pies and iced tea. Some of the simplest moments are the most memorable and yes….very poetic! Loved this, Misky. 🙂

  10. I love the Britishness of this poem, Misky! I was there with you in the lay-by, but I was eating a cheese sandwich!
