Day 9 NovPAD

What If I

can’t think of a single blank-if thing to write – I’d

drink a glass a water (7 more to go)
check WhatsApp for overnight messages
pace the kitchen floor from the fridge
to the sink – helps me to think
pick bread crumbs off the oriental
and I’m thinking Prizzi’s Honor
all of a sudden
pour myself a tall mug of coffee
splash it with milk, semi-skimmed,
stir the coffee longer than I should because
that’s what I do when I can’t
think of a thing to write
defrost a chicken
start a new To-Do-List
1. start a to-do-list
2. sharpen a pencil
3. defrost a chicken
drink a glass of water (6 more to go)
empty the dishwasher
microwave the coffee that’s gone cold
and I’m still thinking Prizzi’s Honor
for no apparent reason at all

and that’s what I do if I can’t find
any blank-ifs to write.

PA’s Day 9: write of poem with a title “(blank) If (blank) filling in the blanks. A list poem seemed the way to go, since I really did struggle with today’s prompt.

  1. Love this! Esp Prizzi’s x 2. I came up with a whole raft of titles, but not a single poem. Shows to go you.

    1. These prompts are an if-ing blind agony. Can you turn that raft-ofs into a list poem?

      1. I started that way, but got into a blind alley because it looked like such a good opportunity for a repeating-line form. Just the concept, mind you, wore me out.
