Quadrille #34

HairManStrawHat

Of You

I was thinking about you
as I watched the beauty of clouds.
You. Stormy. Like weather
fighting the world.
You said we’d grow old,
pitch peanut shells at the floor,
and stalk shadows
like dark ruins.
I still think of you,
and your raucous laughter.

A Quadrille for dVerse: 44 words (excluding
the title) and including the word “storm”

  2. Some people are stormy and this one also had “raucous laughter” which must have made the storms bearable.

  3. I think those we miss the most are those we also fear the most… to throw peanut shells on the floor…. sounds like freedom in a way.

  8. I love everything about this! In 44 words: a portrait of a person and an intimate telling of a relationship. That simple abandonment of decorum – to throw peanut shells on the floor: reveals the personalities and the venues they frequent – a join de vivre!
