dVerse Quadrille #28

A Nod to March

My daffodils’ angelic glances
tremble with suspense.
Statuesque stems
shivering at the thought, snow
forgotten so soon, so absolutely
in sun’s gloss of satin
and crocus pearls. Spring’s
vexed by winter’s squeeze
while ladybugs sit cross-legged,
prop their chins against their
elbows and
wait.

  1. I’m waiting, too, like those ladybugs. I’m waiting for the driveway to be snowplowed so I can put out the garbage cans for pickup today. Then I’ll probably take a walk in all the snow this morning. I hope the daffodils are OK.

    1. Daffodils easily cope with snow; it’s insulating. Ice and wind is another story. I hope your snow doesn’t cause too many problems for you, Frank.

    1. I’m always influenced by what I’m reading, and recently I’ve been enjoying Archy and Mehitabel … again. I think I’ve read it three times now.

  4. Is that drawing one of yours, Misky? I like it very much. I also like your shivering daffodils with their angelic glances and statuesque stems. I love the lines:
    ‘…Spring’s
    vexed by winter’s squeeze
    while ladybugs sit cross-legged’ –
    what a charming image!
