Twiglet #14 “Shedding Dust”

A Season for Feet

I have dusty memories
of summer heat, my feet
swollen and bleating.
But my winter feet
are porcelain streams
— cold and slow —
a ponderous white
in sturdy shoes.
So I wait for summer days
with elderberry clouds,
and country lanes shedding
dust on my wandering feet.

  1. OH, those elderberry clouds!
    And this flash of brilliance:
    “my winter feet
    are porcelain streams
    — cold and slow —
    a ponderous white
    in sturdy shoes.”

Your poetic voice never ceases to delight me, Misky.

  4. Oh, I remember several summers as a child roaming without shoes.
I think I need to be just a tad more careful these days. But if I had a beach…I would (after getting past the hot part) shed my shoes!

    1. My feet are far too sensitive to go barefoot nowadays. Couldn’t do it.

      1. I used to have very thick calluses on my tootsies…but no more. I also need bug spray and sun screen when going out (especially when there are bugs!) .

        1. Same here on the spray. Mozzies eat me alive.

          1. I can’t eat bananas when it’s warm. That food seems to attract the Mozzies to me.
            Guess I’m just sweet 😉
