Too Many Radishes
it’s when the snow
is rolling off the roof,
and the wooden fence
is wobbling in the wind,
and my blind and deaf dog
refused to step on the snow,
and I’m in my bathrobe, shivering
in a snow storm, carrying
a dog who won’t squat and pee
because it’s afraid to step
on anything cold, and the fence
wobbles and cracks then leans
as the snow rolls off the roof,
and I’m thinking this is all
just a bit too much for 6:30am,
and I’m reminded of that saying —
“it’s easy to plant too many radishes”
written for Miz Quickly’s Day 13: Springboard. The quoted phrase is by M. Bartholomew’s “All New Square Foot Gardening”
