dVerse Quadrille #19

Those In-Between Times

During that lost in-between time,
when my pen drew dust,
and my thoughts scattered,
and my inner voice wrote
every conversation —
During that no-nothing time,
I didn’t know myself, cared
little for myself; broken hearts
have no spark. And I became
my worst enemy.

  1. “broken hearts have no spark” — YES. Too true.
I love “no-nothing time.” I have been here, Misky. You have captured it beautifully.

  5. I liked the phrase “no-nothing time”. We do become our worst enemies at times.

  6. The poem feels like drowning with the word “enemy” hitting rock bottom. Those in-between times are hard. But then we rediscover ourselves, and rise, and learn to breathe again.

  7. Those terrible in-between times… like walking through a tunnel when you cannot see the end…

  8. It is those times when one can learn to self-spark and walk through the tunnel.

  9. A revelation to note..
    of feeling and science same
    is memories are emotions and
without the essence of those memories
words no longer glue together in coherent
thought as rivers of emotions and streams of
words sing and play toGetHer free and rarely get lost…
i lost all my emotions for
    66 months and to actually
lose them all is as rare
    as any psychiatrist
    often sees
    beyond
    a spectrum
    of Autism as
    they say.. to get
    them back if one
    at least had them
before.. can be a job of
    JOB when chronic stress
    associated neurohormones
    and neurochemicals destroy
pArts of bRAin and wiring gets
lost in going away from emotions
    to escape all
    the worry ones
    of doubt and fear
    and all that feels
    so dARk inside then..
    For me STiLL noW@
    least.. a dance then
    free without words
    brOught them back
    and surely there
    were empty
    shells
    of words
    before then..
    hoLdinG no essence
thaT did not exisT in zero
    reference point for emotions..
lost iN dArkest hell of never remember
as memories and emotions are the same..:)

  10. Raw emotion about those in-between times that seem to decimate us…then hopefully urge us onwards. Loved this.

    when my pen drew dust,
    and my thoughts scattered,

Those are the scary times when one gets nowhere and dries up. Most frustrating indeed!
