I’m back home after a glorious holiday with family.
I am thankful to have seen a Savannah Hawk land a few metres away from me (in Anapoima Colombia). Its wingspan was so large that when it took flight, I felt the pressure of the air under its wings.

To see the night sky in all its beauty without interference from city lights. The stars that night were amazing; so bright and clear and numerous. It was a Wolf Moon — the first supermoon of the year.

Thankful for the jacuzzi that inspired this week’s Six Sentence Story and its Liturgy mind-mapping poem.

To see an enormous boa constrictor, not in a zoo behind glass, but in its native habitat — crossing the driveway at the house where we stayed in Anapoima. I was thankful that it showed no interest in me.

Thankful for childs’ play that doesn’t involve technology or game consoles. The grandchildren amused themselves all afternoon playing hide and seek with other children.

The sweetest song from a bird that I’ve ever heard: the social flycatcher.

Thankful that our flight back home took off before this storm grounded us. Flights are frequently grounded for an hour or more due to lightning and heavy rain.

Thankful when you absolutely know that you’re under someone’s wing.

Thankful that it wasn’t me that forced the aeroplane to make a medical emergency landing in Bilbao, Spain. This was the last leg of our journey back home — Madrid to London (via Bilbao).

10 … Thankful for family and grandchildren, and spending time with those I love who all live so very far away. And thankful to be home.
