The Internet Is Down Again

Come on, you sulking hulk,
we coax you from the dark,
we whisper to your routers,
and promise you the clouds.
Rise now, little lights,
shake off your grumpy moody gloom.
The world waits, half-breathing,
for your bright return.
Come on, Cloudflare, wake up!

  1. This is such a fun and playful take on the word “coax”, I definitely know the feeling of hoping the internet/cloudflare will actually play ball.

    1. Cloudflare completely collapsed this afternoon in most of Europe and the UK. It’s up and running again, thankfully.

      1. Ah, thankfully it’s just been a day of emails for me, so I’ve managed to miss noticing it despite being in the North West.

      2. When those mysterious outages happen, I always imagine someone is hacking in to steal something or attach surveillance devices. Hoping it was a harmless, infinitely irritating glitch.

  3. It’s wonderful till it doesn’t cooperate! It is like a cat, you have to wait for it to be ready … coaxing does not help! Sometimes it’s just an unplugged cable! LOL

    1. Thanks! It was a server that went down and took most of Europe with it!

  4. There’s magic in a poem, to beguile the ether when it’s feeling down. 😉

  5. When whole countries go dark because of one server, you have to wonder how rickety the networking is. Glad cyberia has been restored for you, Misky.

    1. A couple weeks ago it was Amazon’s AWS that was down. All good now though.

      1. Like they would admit it ( under the current state of affairs)…
Hence we are locked in building multiple Data Centers.

  8. It’s so frustrating not to have Internet service now. Many of us rely on it. The Cloudflare situation didn’t affect me too much. I couldn’t access a couple sites from my email links. I’d never heard of Cloudflare before yesterday.

  9. It is really difficult to do without internet nowadays, seeing that we rely on it so much.
