This poem is in response to Spira’s post called Love Like an Ocean which I highly recommend you read.
Like an Ocean, Never Stop
Love like the ocean. Never stop.
Not even when the moon forgets
to rise, or the gulls fold their songs
into the hollow of clouds.
Love with the hush of tide returning,
with a kiss to same shore it once left.
With memory. With salt. With foam
that carries fragments back home.
Love through the wrecks and lullabies,
barnacled silences and blue-lit rage.
Love like depth. Like pull. Like gravity
in liquid form. Love when drowning in it.
And when the stars fall, one by one,
still, love.
Still, rise.
Still, begin.
Never stop.
