07.06: Ten Things of Thankful

In no particular order:

1.
Thankful that I was able to clear out the fridge before leaving on holiday, and not throw any of it in the bin.

2.
AirTags. I repeat: AirTags. And AirTag knock-offs that work just as well as the genuine article. Thankful that our lost luggage in Philadelphia was found, thanks to AirTags, and they were all delivered to us at my eldest son’s house the next day.

3.
I am thankful that this little ity-bity aeroplane stayed in the air until we reached Norfolk. Unfortunately, this is the aeroplane that left our luggage behind in Philadelphia.

4.
Thankful to be part of my eldest son’s very special day: a change of command ceremony, and his retirement ceremony from the Navy as a Captain.

5. Hugging my grandson, who I’ve not seen for 2-years, and who’s now as tall as me. We listened to music; he doesn’t like my music. He likes my Old Woman With No Cat stories though.

6.
The tears and the joy and the laughs with my 17-year old granddaughter — she has a driving licence and we go for drives and set the world right as we drive along Elbow Road (100 word short story about it).

7.
Photogenic cats with a sense of humour.

8.
Finding an aircon-cooled restaurant on Virginia Beach boardwalk in the 34C heat. Waded along the waves (water temperature 23C, which was lovely). I discovered “Fish Tacos” — (where have you been all my life!) Why did nobody tell me you can stick fishfinger-stick-thingies in a soft taco shell and throw a few chopped up bits of stuff in there with it, and it would be so yummy!

9.
Now that’s a cheese burger (phrasal credit to The Menu). Thank you.

10.
Thankful for the time to be with family, to stop and be in each other’s company, to be with loved ones—distance being no obstacle, and to pause and smell the roses.

    1. Thank you, Clark. Williamsburg today —a very slow walk in the heat and humidity.

  2. I’m going to remember the airtag trick if I fly (I hate flying). Thank goodness you used them, or your thankful list would have been a lot different! Congratulations to your son for his retirement, and thank you to him for his service.
