10 May: Ten Things of Thankful

In no particular order:

1. A weekend in Southampton with one of my dearest friends (and her family). We last saw each other many years ago, and it was brilliant to catch up and give each other long hugs to last until next time.

2. It’s official: graduated with Distinction.

3. Irises are blooming. They used to be yellow. This year they’re creamy white. And no rain since early April, so we’re into another drought-dry summer.

4. I’m thankful that we love radishes because we sowed too many seeds. They’ve taken over my medicinal herbs.

5. A phone camera that takes better photos than my old Canon. So much easier to carry about.

6. Leftovers so I can make egg fried rice with hacked-up kimchi in it.

7. Kimchi, homemade always. Learned to make it (properly fermented) years ago after we adopted our Korean-born sons.

I suspect some things are just in a person’s DNA, and they’ll always crave it (the way I crave clam chowder).

8. Chives, and those beautiful pastel blossoms that are totally edible.

Image taken with my phone.

9. I’m thankful that the UK still observes VE day.

10. Silly jokes:

Did you hear about the claustrophobic astronaut?
He just needed a little space.

    1. Thank you, Kristi! Thank you. Yes, phone cameras as incredible- and so much easier than a big boxy thing hanging off ones neck. See you again next week!

  9. It’s important not to let too many years go by without meeting up with old and dear friends. Graduating with distinction? Congratulations, Misky!! That’s what I miss the most about my old S6. It had an incredible camera.

  10. Your congratulations are heartily received, and thank you. And I agree: texts, and emails, and photos don’t compare to a hug, and a long chat in a quiet corner. I hope this week treats you well, Denise.
