13.03.25: Ten Things of Thankful

A small figure in a light dress stands with outstretched arms before a large, softly textured moon, framed by a silhouetted tree on one side and tall grasses on the other, all rendered in muted, grainy tones.

In no particular order:

1. Lunar eclipse on Friday—March’s full moon is the last winter moon, and it’s called the Worm Moon—and it should be gloriously red because of the eclipse.

2. Ladybirds on daffodils, and yellow bursting out everywhere.

3. The temperature soared to 18°C (65°F) … for two days—and then everything froze again, although the daffs just snorted “pffft!” and suggested that spring try harder.

4. The first hint of radioactive-green on the beech trees, and the blackthorn is blooming.

5. Stir-fry, which meant dinner was on the table in 10-minutes, although all the chopping took double that time.

6. Sushi for lunch—that won’t happen again for 3-months.

7. Denise’s Six Sentence Stories, and the ability to pull a handful of readers along in a serialised adventure.

8. Discovered why my User Profile didn’t appear when I put my key in the ignition.

9. A scintillatingly clean oven (post-roasted chicken dinner). Love roast chicken; hate the mess.

10 …for the brilliance of the one called Asaf Avidan.

  1. I cannot express how much this song touches me every time I hear it. The first time I heard it, I cried. Since then, sometimes I restrain myself—other times I just release all those memories, and think “it’s called living,” and cry.

  2. I’m glad your daffodils laughed at the frost as our azaleas did. They are bursting out everywhere right now.

    1. We have a lot of wild rhododendrons in this area, but they’re still way off thinking of blooming yet. Happily, the daffs survived and are standing upright again.

    a problem solved to the degree of instantaneity to allow the glow of gratitude wash out the anxiety before it can stain;

serial stories are great (Thanks! Charles)… I tip of the hat to you and them what write Serial Sixes… as challenging to write as they are satisfying to read

flare of summer… (how can it not remind one of first romance)

    1. Typical March weather – sunny one minute, freezing the next, and then chucking down rain. At least we don’t have tornadoes here (yet) — spellchecker insists that I talking about tomatoes rather than tornadoes.

  4. I’m glad you got to see the eclipse. It was cloudy here that night, so we missed it. I love seeing all the flowers waking up from winter, though!

    1. I am so happy to see spring flowers again. I had a shipment of little baby plug plants for the greenhouse arrive yesterday. It’s too cold for them outside, even in the greenhouse, so they’re indoors until the nights warm up a bit.
