1 Sept: Journal of Thoughts from Last Week

A Journal of Thoughts from Last Week

The A In Waiting

Waiting For The 101 Bus

I know a woman,
who feels half my age,
who tells herself
she’ll know when the time’s right,
when this round’s over,

but nothing changes –
Tuesdays, Tuesdays,
same bus stop, same time,
same twelve strides from the corner,
she’s looking down the road,

but nothing changes,
she wears a claret floral dress,
and she loves a man
who loves this dress,
and she lifts her arm,

the 101 bus arrives, same driver,
she takes the same seat
second on the right,
and she waits –
waiting makes her feel old.

    1. I wish I could express just how perfect that song choice is. I will say, quite simply … Aye.

  1. Misk, I get a real sense of a resigned “same old” going through her mind. Like the details, especially the “claret floral dress”.

    1. For that moment that’s probably what she felt, but you know, moods … who’s to know what’s on a person’s mind from one moment to the next.
