person walking in the rain

The Fibre of Water

some days I want to
empty myself on the table
and see who sits down.

some days
I use long as a verb.

some days I wish
I had been allowed
to be left-handed.

some days I count
eating ice cream as exercise.

some days I walk in the rain,
and walk back home in the rain.
some days I am dull as rain.

some days I can be ripped apart,
like wind through a cloud.

some days I wait for ink to flow –
some days it doesn’t, some days
it spills in messy puddles.

some days my shadow is dark
and some days I am light.

some days I empty myself
on the table and no one
sits down.
