A Cadralor Poem: An Imperfect Calm

I.
Clouds rush by as if traveling life’s long road,
and I’m glad of sapphire sky that’s
breathless as runners in their race.

II.
Your eyes are the quiet darkness of sky,
only the sharp glare of midday
is strong enough to make me look away.

III.
Somewhere in a field a dream hangs,
a blackbird pretends joy,
and my thoughts are too dark for words.

IV.
I stood under a silver birch,
rain slipping through trees and clouds,
and the earth is quiet as a sealed tomb.

V.
The stars fall like silver rain,
leaves running wild in a breeze as spirits
are torn from gentle graves, breathless.
