11 June: dVerse Quadrille

Proof That I Was

I’m feverish, my blood
full of penicillin,
my head full of Gealdýr,

and I’ve an old photo album
in my hand.
proof,
I was once
there.

a beach, long and white,
my children
young and small
on a holiday

that is a figment memory.

    1. Yes, now that’s how to do it properly. Stuff me in my car, and set it alight with a flaming arrow. 😂

  1. LOVE the image you’ve created…..and a beautiful response to the prompt word. It makes me think of the many times I take out old photo books….and baby books I made for my children who are now 50 and 48! I look at those photos and imagine being back in those precious times….and yes….they become like a figment in my imagining. A returning to the past. Looking at the first three lines, I do hope they are fictional and that you are feeling in the pink?

    1. Unfortunately it’s not fiction. Pneumonia.

  2. Such a poignant poem, really. It made me think of people with Alzheimers who are sometimes as confused as comforted by photos.

  3. The way you describe the fever is excellent… to have that beast inside is exactly how it feels. But seeing evidence may bring back memories.

  4. Being delirious, the line between figment and reality blur. Hope you get well soon, Misky.

  6. A great take on the prompt Misky, the confusion of fever – except for the proof.

    1. Thanks, Paul. Thankfully, the fever is gone – now to take it slowly and recover.
