13 April: NaPoWriMo

B&W AI artwork: mountains with snow, waterfalls, wooden buildings. This is a representation of of the lodge at Snoqualmie Falls near Seattle WA

A friend said to me this morning, Go out for lunch – somewhere with wood and leather … and something else that I can’t remember because I was suddenly drowning in the scent of wood and leather. And I replied with something about a leather jacket and a lumber yard and a packed lunch, but truth be known I was in a spin of scents and memories of a cafe where Twin Peaks was filmed, where we used to have lunch when I was a child. And I remember there was a small juke box fastened to the wall at every red-leather-booth where you could listen to music of your choice whilst waiting for your buckwheat pancakes or your warm cinnamon roll or Dad’s that’s-damned-good-coffee. And someone else just asked me what’s the difference between a dream and a memory and fiction, and I’m not sure that there is one because I often dream of that memory … sitting in that cafe with Dad, watching the river on the other side of the road slowly push its way westward, and oddly Mum and my sister are never in that memory, or maybe it is a dream, because in my recollection it was my place with Dad, even though Mum and my sister where there, too. And about that town – it was renown for its witches, but that was a secret.

Mum wore red lipstick
It’s named after an man-eating animal
My thoughts expand like water

  4. Twin Peaks revisited, poetically!

The theme music for show was quite haunting.

  5. I find myself giggling quietly about the lipstick named after a man-eating animal…when I was young I liked to look at my mother’s cosmetics…the names were always so intriguing to my innocent mind.

    1. She also had one named after obsolete coinage that I rather liked to play with.
