It's Still Life

I remember as a child
believing that when I could read

I’d know lots of stuff,
and I’d know truth when I saw it,

but there were few facts
in Henny Penny or
One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish

and so I was left to believe
mostly in myself.
