You Can Always Trust a Monkey
Oh, yes, I peel bananas
like a monkey, and
And I love soft ice cream
moulded like Plasticine.
And I itch, I scratch,
I hoot and scowl,
I am a monkey,
an emotional ape.
And I hate the cold,
and growing old.
I’m grey and silver, behold
this pale old drape.
I tumble. I stumble on
just a pea or pebble.
I fall off curbs, and
woah, I’m holy rolling
down the stairs, but
you can always trust monkeys
to know how to peel a banana.

What needs doing will get done, even if there is a bit of stumbling in between.

A fun read. I think there are quite a few of us on that slippery slope of aging.
