Roots of Fiction

my first waking thoughts
are never of morning,
never what pills
I should take, which joint
ointment for knees or
sore muscles, or is it
Monday or Tuesday.
I wake to my
pens and paper, scribbling
down remains of dreams,
burning roots of fiction.

  2. Ah….to wake, brew coffee for me before the uptake of pen….but I do so understand. It’s that morning quiet that roots out the words. 🙂

  3. That is wonderful, because during sleep all that creative energy gestates and bursts forth into words in the morning.

    1. It’s obviously way past my bedtime; I actually looked up the word “sofiery” in the dictionary.

  17. Coffee first! I like your morning routine although very different from mine, except for the writing. Our dreams grow into words, don’t they?
